Apply for a Global Entry background check

How to apply for Global Entry

  1. Check you are eligible: Before applying, check you comply with the eligibility criteria, as outlined on the United States Customs and Boarder Protection (USCBP) Eligibility for Global Entry webpage(Opens in a new tab/window)(Opens in a new tab/window).

You should also check you comply with Australia’s criteria for passing a background check.

  2. Apply directly through the United States: Australian applications for the Global Entry program must be made directly through the United States Customs and Border Protection(Opens in a new tab/window)(Opens in a new tab/window).

Once the USCBP has processed your application, you will get an email from AusCheck inviting you to apply for and consent to an Australian background check for Global Entry.

  3. Apply for an Australian background check: You must apply for the Australian background check through the AusCheck applicant portal or by contacting AusCheck for a manual application form.

You need a myID to sign in to the AusCheck applicant portal. myID is the Australian Government's Digital ID app. It's a secure way to verify your identity online.

If you are applying through the portal with a Strong myID, you will not need to upload any documents to complete your application.

If you do not have a Strong myID, or you are applying through the manual form, you must provide certain identity documents to prove your identity and Australian citizenship.

An Australian passport is the only document that is accepted as a Category B document.

For more information see Identity documents.
