About the verifier role
A verifier confirms an applicant's identity in an in-person appointment.
Learn more about schemes and programs with a verifier role:
- Aviation and Maritime Security Identification Cards (ASICs and MSICs)
- Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program (CIRMP)
- Major National Events (MNEs)
- Naval Shipbuilding Identity Assurance Program.
Before you start
Your employer or organisation may ask you to become a verifier.
Before you start, you must have a background check in the scheme or program you will be a verifier for. This means you need either a:
- valid ASIC, MSIC or Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Identification Card (NSSIC)
- suitable critical infrastructure or MNE background check.
Once you have the relevant background check, you must complete the online AusCheck verifier course for your scheme or program. Completing this training course will enable you to access the AusCheck verifier portal. You must complete this training every 2 years to continue accessing the verifier portal.
To request access to the online verifier course, email AusCheck@homeaffairs.gov.au
Include which scheme or program course you want to do.
Mandatory verifier training (for AusCheck portal users)
For verifiers who use the verifier portal, you must request access to our verifier course by emailing AusCheck@homeaffairs.gov.au.
When you request access, include which scheme or program you are a verifier for.
Optional issuing body verifier training (for non AusCheck portal users)
Issuing bodies and their verifiers who do not use the AusCheck portal are not required to complete any verifier training.
To support you with identity verification, you can still complete the optional Issuing Bodies: Identity Verification Training(Opens in a new tab/window).
