About the verifier role

A verifier confirms an applicant's identity in an in-person appointment.

Your employer or organisation may ask you to become a verifier.

Before you start, you must have a background check in the scheme or program you'll be a verifier for. This means you need either:

a valid ASIC, MSIC or Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Identification Card (NSSIC)
a suitable critical infrastructure or MNE background check.

Once you have the relevant background check, you need to complete the online AusCheck verifier course for your scheme or program.

To request access to the online verifier course, email AusCheck@homeaffairs.gov.au. Include which scheme or program course you want to do.

Once you've become a verifier, these are the steps to access the verifier portal.

Email AusCheck@homeaffairs.gov.au to ask for permission to perform the verifier role. Include the following information:
- your first and last name
- your date of birth
- your certificate of completion from your verifier course
- confirmation that you attempted to sign in to the verifier portal and received the error message.
AusCheck will email you when your verifier account has been activated.
Go to the verifier portal(Opens in a new tab/window). You'll be redirected to sign in via the myID app.
You'll have access to 2 portals:
- applicant portal - this is because you have an AusCheck background check.
- verifier portal - this is to perform your verifier role.
You can perform only one role at a time. If you need to change to a different portal, close the browser and then open the portal for the role you are performing.
