About the responsible entity role
Responsible entities and their authorised agents use the employer portal to confirm and manage critical worker applications.

How to access the employer portal
Follow these steps to access the employer portal.
Your employer code
Each responsible entity has a unique code that's used to link applicants to your organisation. It's called the employer code.
The applicant will be asked to provide the employer code when they are applying for a background check.
Authorised agents
Responsible entities can share their employer code with critical workers who are directly employed as either:
- staff
- contactors
- subcontractors.
Responsible entities can also choose to authorise large contractor organisations to act as an agent. They can manage the background checking process for employees and contractors using their own unique employer codes. We call this the 'facility operator model'.
