ASIC changes for Adelaide and Canberra Airports

Last updated: 18 Jun 2026

Important ASIC changes for staff at Adelaide and Canberra Airports.

From 1 July 2026, AusCheck will no longer be the issuing body for new and renewed Aviation Security Identification Cards (ASICs) for non-government staff at Adelaide and Canberra Airports. Staff must apply through a different issuing body.

AusCheck is committed to supporting both Adelaide and Canberra Airports throughout this transition, as well as for those who still have valid AusCheck-issued cards.

AusCheck will continue to manage ASICs issued by us until they expire or are no longer needed.

Reason for the changes

The government is ceasing implementation of the Single Issuing Body (SIB) for aviation and maritime security identification cards. This means that AusCheck will no longer be an issuing body for non-government organisations, including the Adelaide and Canberra Airports.

Impact on non-government staff who work at Adelaide and Canberra Airports

Staff will still require an ASIC to work at Adelaide and Canberra Airports.

You must apply for new or renewed ASICs through another issuing body.

Your workplace may advise you which issuing body they are now using.

You can find the full list of issuing bodies on Issuing bodies for Aviation Security Identification Cards (ASICs).

Current AusCheck-issued ASICs

You can continue to use your AusCheck-issued ASIC until it expires, or you no longer need it for work.

If you need a replacement of your AusCheck-issued ASIC, apply through the AusCheck applicant portal(Opens in a new tab/window).

For more information about replacement cards, visit For applicants.

Expired or no longer needed ASICs

Return your AusCheck-issued ASICs to AusCheck if it has expired or is no longer needed. A penalty of 10 units may apply if you do not return it.

You can return your ASIC to AusCheck:

  • In person – if you receive a replacement ASIC, return your old ASIC in-person when you collect the new card.
  • By post – to PO Box 25, Belconnen ACT 2616.
